What Would Jon Snow Read? Book Recs for Your Favorite Game of Thrones Characters
"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge," Tyrion Lannister told Jon Snow in A Game of Thrones. "That's why I read so much."
Unfortunately for Tyrion—and for all the characters in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series—the publishing industry in the fantasy land of Westeros leaves a little to be desired. (Unless, of course, you're mostly into historical nonfiction and songs about maidens and/or bears). But what if Game of Thrones characters were on Goodreads today? Which books would they add to their to-read shelves?
Below we've gathered some book recommendation for Tyrion, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and more. Now it's your turn!

This is a brilliant composition! Really entertaining!

It seems fitting that the only books on that list that I've read are from Arya, Tyrion and Dany's shelves! They're my favorite characters and now that I know we share the same taste in books, I know why!
Jon Snow might enjoy: "Little Red Riding Hood" He'd adore "Unbroken" and might fall for "Grimm's Fairy Tales"
Jon would read 'Song Bird' by Christine M Knight. Life is bleak in his world; he needs to return to the summer. Winter needs to be left behind.
I suggested The Thief Who Pulled on Trouble's Braids for Arya because I Think she would find a lot in common with the heroine.

Great blog post.....again, but I haven't read this series so I can't add anything for this blog post except that a few books above I have shelved and others I oac, but haven't scanned into the system yet. *runs and hides in shame from die hard fans*. Haven't read......Yet.......I will someday :) Enjoy the thread everyone :)
Vonze (Yvonne) wrote: "Ha! Please make books recs for more literary characters! This is too awesome."Yeah. Recommend some for classic characters like Sherlock Holmes, Elijah Bayley or Brother Cadfael!
Jaime should read the portuguese novel Os Maias (Eça de Queirós). He'll be a kindred spirit to the main character.
Ned stark- the headless horseman and Stuart Little for Tyrion. Khaleesi needs to read how to train your dragon.
I don't know about Cersei, but Joffrey should read The Color Purple.Actually, I'm pretty sure Cersei has been reading the Eloise series. Also, someone get Samwell Tarly to read some Brene Brown for pete's sake.
Love this. Littlefinger would read Lolita.
Cersei would read Gone Girl, because she's crazy and she would get Amy.

Or Sansa would and be inspired.

I do not Tyrion would take the time to sit down and even read a book.

Tyrion is the greatest reader of the series (books/show).

I share a reading taste with Tyrion (yay!) and Littlefinger (uh-oh). But I think Arya should definitely Gone with the Wind. She is a Scarlett kind of gal - do what it takes to survive.
Bay Area Book Festival wrote: "Cersei would read Gone Girl, because she's crazy and she would get Amy."YES!!!
Chili wrote: "Jon Snow would read any encyclopedia, so at least he'd know something. :)"yeah and The Foxfire Book, Foxfire 2-3 books so he could know how to survive anything.
