Meet Our Redesigned Android App!
Android app lovers – we heard you! We’ve just released a major update to our Android app’s design. The app now features an easy-to-use navigation that puts your favorite features at your fingertips, and a cleaner design to help you discover great books and share your reading with friends.
Now you can immediately discover new books your friends are reading, and still check your shelves on the go with just one tap. We’ve also included a fun new touch, a literary quote on the home screen while the app opens.
Download the updated app from the Google Play Store or Amazon App Store and tell us what you think!

This is such an improvement! Well done all :-)

And where is the option to edit my profile?
Wonderperson89 wrote: "You've made it worse by forcing Suggestions and Recommendations on us. Bad show Goodreads for sacrificing your Identity to Amazon."I had the same complaint, but someone at goodreads was able to show me how easy it is to turn off.
Go to the Goodreads.com home page, and click on the "Gear" symbol above the feed. Unclick "Recommendations from Goodreads" and you won't see the inline recommendations in your feed anymore.
When in group threads, the "menu" is see-through which looks pretty dumb + there's no update button. Not that I could find anyway...

So yeah is alot of work you have to do just for an update.

I'm talking about the update button for Group threads :)
How do you get to the home page? We cannot find one. Nor can we find any update status, like on an iPad page. I really like the way it looks on an iPad or laptop. Much easier to navigate.
It looks very nice, the layout and navigation are easier. I would really, really like to be able to access my Reading Challenge stats from the app as well. I'm hoping you'll be adding this feature to the app soon! Thanks!
Ashe. wrote: "It updated while I was sleeping. Thank you!"Same here! Just had a quick look & the most important feature for me (access to my "to-read" list) works really well!
Very good! A couple of glitches to knock out, a few more design choices to improve (there are some Gingerbread/Honeycomb elements), a few features to add (e.g. reading challenges) but it's very much an enormous improvement over the previous versions.
It's nice but I'm still not able to click on the series title to be brought to the list of all books within that series like I can on the desktop site. Drives me nuts!
I have updated it and it looks really good. So much easier to see everything :)
Love the update! It would be nice to see publication date on the book pages too (especially for the books that aren't out yet).
Nope, not liking it. Was fine with the old app, this one constantly closes and the navigation is meh.
I like the new look, but I found a bug with the list of shelves. I have over 100 shelves and when I click the "show more..." link at the bottom of my first page of shelves it appends the same 100 shelves that are already displayed instead of the next 100 shelves.
Thank God you finally did something. I was often having to use the desktop site so hopefully this will prevent that need.
Loved the update! I had the app before but it was so boring and that not most features can be used that I end up using a browser and access the GR site itself.
What always bugged me about the mobile app was the lack of publication date when viewing books - I use that a lot to check when new books will be available for me to download. I like the new "Want to Read" button and I don't mind the suggestions and the look is definitely much cleaner, but you need to add better tablet support.
The only thing I didn't like about the old app was that it didn't push notifications to my phone. It appears that this update didn't include this... very disappointed. I still don't get notified when I have a new message or forum comment. As a book club group admin, that would sure be a nice addition... since the iPhone has had this feature all along...it'd be nice if android would get the same considerations. If this feature IS available somehow, PLEASE tell me where since the settings page is more of a simple info page. Thanks.
The thing I would like to see in all apps is the stats page. I love comparing my book and page counts to previous years.
Better, but what I really wanted was to click on spoilers when reading comments. They're still blocked out.

I am using a Samsung galaxy ace 3 model s7275r android 4.2.2 I have uninstalled many times, I have cleared the cache, I also logged out of web site and downloaded the app directly from the goodreads web page, I also uninstalled facebook and cleared the cache of every app I really don't know what else I can try, thanks so much for replying Meghan
Meghan, when I download the app I press get started then I'm told goodreads has stopped so I never get any further than that
I'm liking the new look, but I agree we need the reading challenge on the app. Also, when I click a notification about a new comment in a discussion I follow it takes me to the beginning of the discussion and not the newest comments, which can be a problem when there are several unread comments and/or the discussion has a lot of entries.
I really like the redesign. I don't know if it's been mentioned but the one thing I do miss is the refresh button/option.
