Introducing the New Goodreads "g"
How many times have you wished that you could add a simple, beautiful graphic representation of Goodreads to your blog, website, email signature, etc? All the time, right? I know the feeling. Our logo is great, but it's a little long. It lacks the simplicity, the impact of single letter. All of that is about to change.
You may have noticed that we have our snazzy new favicon (that's the little image that appears in the address bar of your browser when you visit a website). We're quite taken with it, and as such, we would like you to use it to help us spread the word about Goodreads.
It's simple, really: Go to our API page (Don't worry if you do know what an API is, you won't need to.) or just scroll to the bottom of this post. Scroll to the very bottom of the page, and choose from one of the handy sizes we've made. Right click or control click on the image and click "save image as" to save it to your computer.
You can add the Goodreads "g" to your blog, website, email signature, Facebook page, etc. Make it a clickable image that will take people straight to your profile on Goodreads, your author page or book page, or even your favorites shelf. Maybe you could design a kite with the Goodreads "g" and fly it at the beach this summer. Or make a patch and sew it onto your backpack. Or get it tattooed on your body. Think of it -- your very own Goodreads "g" forever emblazoned on the body part of your choice! The possibilities are limitless.

You know what? I *did* notice this on my browser "hotlinks" bar recently, but it hadn't registered in my brain that it was new; it was so perfect!Yay Goodreads!
Hah. I hadn't noticed the favicon either. It's awesome. Very simple, but in a classy way.

I had a bit of freakout moment when I noticed the new favicon... I thought it was my browser! Glad to know that it came from you guys :) Love the layout!

The tattoo idea made me laugh. It'd be an interesting tattoo to explain. Oh what is the G for, oh it's for goodreads, I'm a fanatic of the site. *snicker*

Really cool 'G'. I noticed a few days ago on my browser's bookmarks.
...? But there has always been a "g" showing up on my browser tabs...True, it used to be capitalized- which I prefer, as it is more proper, but I'm fairly certain that doesn't matter- but it has always been there.
Hmm, call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to have the existing goodreads logo which I have on my blog, because anyone can see straight away that it's a link to something about books.A 'g' doesn't signify anything at all. Gorillas, garbage, grog, girls etc. Could be anything, means nothing at all.

I agree with Lisa. A 'g' can mean anything. I'm going to stick with the old-fashioned method of doing things. Why fix something if it isn't broken

Very nice! Hope the iphone app icon gets updated to this one. Those little stacks of book as an icon is cute but not as clean and nicely designed this.
Could you give me a link to your api page? I downloaded the image file, but I need help turning it into a clickable icon I can append to my sig or incorporate into my web site or blogs.

I've downloaded 5 of the images, 2 sizes of one and 3 of the other.Can anybody provide instructions for how to insert these so they act as links? On an old Mac. Thanks.
