2023's Most Anticipated Mysteries & Thrillers

Posted by Cybil on January 2, 2023

Here's a handy list for those of us who tend to read a lot of mystery novels. Like, a lot a lot. There will be many murders to solve in 2023, and it’s important to budget your time properly.

We’ve gathered here some of the year’s most anticipated mysteries and thrillers, in a month-by-month breakdown. This way, you’ll know to save time in March for, say, London séances and in April for the solemn undertaking that is the new Dennis Lehane novel.

Speaking of beloved genre veterans, the first part of the new year also features brand-new books by Robert Dugoni and Rupert Holmes. (Wait, Rupert Holmes? The singer of The Pina Colada Song? That’s right.) Also look for the latest novels from more recent category heroes like S.A. Cosby, Jane Harper, and Stacy Willingham. If it’s literary acclaim you’re after, hey, look! It’s Rebecca Makkai! And Colson Whitehead! And Joyce Carol Oates!

Scroll over the book cover images below for more details, and add anything interesting to your Want to Read shelf.

Thanks for the question! We have really good early reader data through June. In addition, after the mid-point in the year many of the books haven't been announced yet.
