68 Upcoming Books Goodreads' Editors Are Extremely Excited About

When you work at Goodreads, you get a really good peek at the books that are about to hit bookstores. And, well, we get Very Excited about these books and tend to make elaborate reading plans for them!
We thought it would be fun for each of Goodreads' editors to list the upcoming books we're most eager to get our paws on. Of course, we immediately hit a snag when the three of us began fighting over who would be able to claim which coveted title as their pick… So we created a "Books We Fought Over" category as well.
There are some beloved authors returning with new tomes in the upcoming months, including work from George Saunders, Celeste Ng, Ottessa Moshfegh, and Emma Straub, plus a very promising class of debut authors. One thing all three of us agree on: The rest of 2022 promises some excellent reading.
Scroll over the book covers to learn more about each title, and add the ones that pique your interest to your Want to Read shelf.
Books We Fought Over
There was so much overlap among our picks, we created this master category to capture them all. Crisis averted—and even more book recommendations for you!

Associate Editor Sharon Hsu's Picks
My 2022 Want to Read shelf is extremely genre-agnostic: literary, mystery, romance, SFF, and a dose of nonfiction (as you can see below, I love a good microhistory).

Senior Editor Cybil Wallace's Picks
I'm looking forward to this collection of literary gems, twisted plots, and witty nonfiction. In short, get ready to get weird.

I agree most of the book covers weren't appealing ( I used to love to look at book covers all in a row at book stores) and I wasn't too enthused about most of the books either
