Goodreads Members' Top 72 Hit Books of the Year (So Far)

We’re halfway through 2022—that seemed awfully fast, didn’t it?—so it’s time once again for our annual check-in of Goodreads’ most popular new books of the year (so far).
The listings below represent the books that have generated the most interest and enthusiasm from Goodreads members in the first half of the year. The editorial team measures this by tallying up reader reviews and watching how often a particular title is added to readers’ Want to Read lists. We’ve also limited the selections to books that have a 3.5-star or better average star rating.
As of this writing, Goodreads has more than 140 million members worldwide, so the number crunching can get pretty serious. This time around, we’ve also chopped up the results by genre.
Scroll over the covers to learn more about each book, and be sure to add the books that pique your interest to your Want to Read shelf!

Reminders of Him es de mis favoritos, sin embargo, estoy esperando demasiado it starts with us. También Sarah J Maas lleva la batuta con Ciudad de Medialuna, ambos libros están increíbles.
Erin wrote: "Why is horror always left out of these lists?"Thank you!!! Horror needs to be included.
Robbie wrote: "I don't trust any list that once had The Midnight Library as #1"I was a bit disappointed in Midnight Library because so many friends seemed to love it. I wish we were able to have two ratings on books; 1. Is it good? 2. Did I like it?
Many books (Midnight Library for example) provide a quick, fun, predictable read but I am not sure are "good literature". I also suspect (hope?) maybe ML was not supposed to be a great novel, but another very accessible story to get young people talking. Or maybe I just want to defend my friends who loved the book. :)
Tony wrote: "Please separate Science fiction from the Fantasy genre... we keep begging."Yes, Please separate these 2 distinct genres! I do not read fantasy, as MANY science fiction readers do not.
Where are the children's books?? Those should be included too. The list doesn't say the most popular Adult/ YA books of 2022.
Estas listas me hacen dudar de la calidad lectora media del grupo. Ningún autor canónico. Nada de ninguno de los premios Nobel más recientes. Casi ausentes los clásicos.
Tony wrote: "Please separate Science fiction from the Fantasy genre... we keep begging."Yes! Sci-Fi needs its own independent category.
Robbie wrote: "I don't trust any list that once had The Midnight Library as #1"I agree - Couldn't wait to get this book and what a disappointment!
I've read Black Cake and The School for Good MothersI highly recommend Black Cake, it takes you around the world and through time with a recipe for Black Cake. This may sound hokey, but there is a hugh mystery involved with people disappearing.

And mine too!

I loved Midnight library and still recommend it to friends who are looking for a new book to read. But I also see what you're saying. It was not a top literature book for sure. I am not sure the good reads most popular list even has a "literature" criteria. Maybe it is just based on ratings and number of reviews.
how about splitting nonfiction too? biography/memoir/humor at least! (and maybe history, science/nature, travel, etc...)
Tony wrote: "Please separate Science fiction from the Fantasy genre... we keep begging."Yes, I agree!

Not enough horror? Just turn on your TV! :)
I'm only commenting to agree with others. I hate when science fiction and fantasy are lumped together, and I wish they'd add horror.
Please add a section for “historical s” eg: historical fiction/romanceAlso yes to separating fantasy and sci-fi!

No never
Robbie wrote: "I don't trust any list that once had The Midnight Library as #1"It’s member driven, not staff or critic driven, so one list has literally nothing to do with the rest, since it’s not even the same group reading books. (It’s the top averages given to books released this year, not a vote.)
The Cartographers was awful, imo. Just all over the place... and obviously one has to suspend disbelief for magical realism... but still, there are “rules” that apply to the magical realism so you understand what’s feasible and what isn’t, under this set of rules. I loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, but not the Cartographers. Notes on an Execution was fantastic.

I laughed out loud at this one. True fact."
Oh Gosh.... I did not realize this was the same list. I am going to have to deeply reconsider everything I quick added from here. The Midnight Library was one of the worst reads of that year for me. It caused me to go into a months long reading rut due to fear of selecting another terrible book.
