45 New Books About Books for Bibliophiles Everywhere

Posted by Sharon on March 4, 2022

Is there any better feeling than cracking open a great book? How about starting a great book…about books? For the readers who love to read about reading, we've put together this roundup of bookish books published in the past year (and with a few upcoming 2022 releases thrown in for good measure).

In these pages, you'll find an account of a haunted bookstore from Pulitzer Prize winner Louise Erdrich, a fictionalized take on the real-life woman who fought censors to publish James Joyce's Ulysses, and even a book narrated by a book (how's that for metafiction?). If your tastes lean more toward mysteries, discover whodunits galore set in libraries, in rare book archives, and at literary festivals. Craving a happily-ever-after? Then check out a book-themed romance from the likes of Emily Henry or Jasmine Guillory.

Scroll over the book covers to learn more about each title, and be sure to add the ones that catch your eye to your Want to Read shelf

+1 loved every bit of it!

NReadsLikeCrazy Great list- and what covers! I'm reading The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins... and am charmed!

John Porter Some terrific books on this list, and some I certainly have to read. However, there is a huge omission from these 'books about books.' Anyone who hasn't read Carlos Ruiz Zafron's Cemetery of Forgotten Books series (4 books, starting with The Shadow of the Wind) needs to move it to the top of your list. Don't be daunted that it's a 4 book series; try the 1st one, you'll be hooked.

Keri I agree 100% with John Porter's recommendation to read the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series!!

Terry Alsterda The Reading List was very good!

Noell This list is sorely missing some good books. The Book Thief, The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, The Library Book by Susan Orlean, The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, just to name a few.

I have both the English and Spanish versions of The Shadow of the Wind in my TBR pile. Had no idea it was part of a series. Thanks!

Hi Noell, we agree that those are great books! This list focused on newer bookish books published since the beginning of 2021.

Elissa How could 'The Dictionary of Lost Words' not be in this list?!
