Site problems - updated
One of our power circuits died at the Goodreads datacenter. What this means is we're running on half power for the moment. We've got a man down there at the moment and are looking into it. If you're experiencing slowness or other problems, we're sorry about that. We're working to address this as quickly as possible. Thanks!
Update 1am pst:
some equipment was damaged as a result of the power fluctuations, some of our cache servers are still down.
Update 1:20 am pst:
i think all functionality should be restored. If you notice anything unusual, please report it in the comments.

Thanks for letting us know, great idea to broadcast a site announcement. Good luck fixing the problem.
And we're not done yet! They say after we get a bit of a break over the weekend, more storms next week. Ugh.
Hope you're not sitting waiting too long!
All that rain, not mentioning the mud, and its 40deg here (that's 100+). Thanks for letting us know Michael. Hope the books good.
Would you believe they had snow earlier this week down south in the Snowy Mountains (good name huh). We were all stunned speechless. Pretty weird.
GREAT!! and i was wondering there was some problem with my internet!! lol but thanks for informing!!! :)

I just got an error to the effect that "there was no server available" to handle my post. I refreshed the page, resubmitting the post, and it worked.
I keep trying to form a new group and it will not allow me to select a subtopic, which is a required field. Is this anything to do with the power outage, or is it another problem, or is it user error? is there a more appropriate place than this to ask questions like this?

I've been seeing this very unsightly error in Safari 4 on OS X for weeks. — http://drp.ly/vH5eNIt displays fine in Firefox, but I use Safari. So.. look in to it, please. :)

This is a bug in webkit. The size of the broken image tag is incorrect. Webkit should be rendering the alt tag, or at least honoring css, but its not.
I can fix the broken image, but its likely to happen again.
