I would totally recommend Stalking Jack the Ripper
flag
The Hate U Give and One of us Is Lying are both excellent.Rebel of the Sands was very popular, but not a favorite for me. I rated 3/5, but some of that is down to personal preference.
Rebel of the sands is a big favorite of mine as well as Wintersong. Plus we can't forget about Caraval :)
I just finished The Crown’s Game. It is AMAZZING! My friends say the plot is a lot like Throne of Glass, but The Crown’s Game is set in Russia and is so sos so good. I MUST read it.
Caraval is whimsical and entertaining and if you enjoy a strong theme of sibling love, it has that too :)
Unpopular Opinion Time:I’ve read 14 of the books on this list and the ones that were probably the most popular/anticipated I hated the most.
Read and recommend:
-Love and Gelato
-The Hate U Give
-Frostblood
-To Kill a Kingdom
-The Hazel Wood (but it’s realllly weird)
-The Poet X
-Sky in the Deep
-Everless
Read and Detested:
-Caraval
-Emergency Contact
-Rebel of the Sands
-One of Us Is Lying
Other two were The Thousandth Floor and When dimple
met Rishi, which were both mediocre.
The YA author I discovered this year was Jordan Rivet - I loved her Duel of Fire and the rest of her Steel & Fire series.
Sebastian wrote: "Is Wintersong worth reading? I’ve seen plenty of recommendations, but I’m hesitant."Would definitely say it's worth the read! Dark but magical
The Astonishing Color of After, When Dimple Met Rishi and The Star Touched Queen for sure!Nope to The Black Witch and Love & Gelato tho... they’re both garbage.
Okay I’ve read a bunch of these- STALKING JACK THE RIPPER: READ IT!!!!! Omg the plot- ladies the feminist overtones are incredible as well as authentic! I recommend it!
i dont understand everyone recommending Stalking Jack the Ripper. it was badly written, had no plot, was historically inaccurate, had a very awkward and uninteresting instalove, and balatantly overused feminist tropes to lure you in and offer no real juice.
I'd recommend The Star-Touched Queen, One of Us is Lying, An Enchantment of Ravens, Frost Blood, The Poet X, Crown of Feathers, and Sorcery of Thorns.

Victoria wrote: "Okay I’ve read a bunch of these- STALKING JACK THE RIPPER: READ IT!!!!! Omg the plot- ladies the feminist overtones are incredible as well as authentic! I recommend it!"Feminist undertones? The book was so subtle with them it could have knocked someone over the head with them! And not in a good way, in the most tropey and historically inaccurate way ever.
Natasa ❤️ Herondale wrote: "Stalking Jack the Ripper and Caraval are some of the best series I have ever read!"Does anyone know if Stalking Jack the Ripper is historically accurate?
Quenby wrote: "Have read The Black Witch three times. It is wonderful."Same. I adore the entire Black Witch Chronicles, it is so good!
I absolutely 100% recommend the following books to anyone and everyone: • The Hate You Give
• Five Feet Apart
• This Is Where It Ends
• Children Of Blood And Bone
• Girl In Pieces
They all are amazing. A good book makes you laugh, but a great book makes you cry. These books will make your heart rip in half.

I can see why he left you.
I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver.....I wish I could give this 10 stars and pray that Mason is working on another book.
Noora wrote: "i dont understand everyone recommending Stalking Jack the Ripper. it was badly written, had no plot, was historically inaccurate, had a very awkward and uninteresting instalove, and balatantly over..."Agree so much with this. I didn’t enjoy it at all. I found the protagonist in particular extremely weak.

Same!
Amanda wrote: "Great list, but Maureen Johnson is far from a new voice in YA."Agreed - Maureen has been writing fantastic YA for yearsssss! :)
Shame the author of Children of Blood and Bone went after Nora Roberts. Now I find little motivation to pick her book up. False plagiarism claims aren't cool.
Loved The Hate You Give, Frostblood, & Caravel. To Kill A Kingdom was disappointing. Lot of these are on my list!

She did say OVERtones. lol
J.N. wrote: "Shame the author of Children of Blood and Bone went after Nora Roberts. Now I find little motivation to pick her book up. False plagiarism claims aren't cool."Agreed. Someday I may pick up her book but it will be after the hype has died down. She was so childish.

She apologized, though, and admitted that she had been mistaken.

She should probably work on her apologies. Thank goodness for screencaps since she's strangely deleted it since.
Egbert's World: Book One I like finding a good YA unknown. I would recommend Egbert's World and Lucius's World by R.I.Wilson; they're a magical read. If you like the classics, such as The Hobbit, Alice in Wonderland and The Chronicles of Narnia, the World Trilogy would be right up your street. Can't wait for the last installment!
