I'm surprised that GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW is not on this list.

I recommend NOS4A2, and the Count of Monte Cristo is my favourite book, but I haven't read any others of these yet
The reason why books you think would be on this listaren't,
is because Amazon chooses the books they think will be most likely to sell.
The count of Monte Cristo is my absolute favourite book, more people need to read it, I have read a few of the others, like war and peace and Don Quixote, however The Count, lives longest in my memory.
Any Ron Chernow or David McCullough book. Truman, Washington and Grant are outstanding! Leonardo da Vinci by Walter Isaacson is up there, too.
Any of these books are worthy LONG reads:The Winds of War by Herman Wouk
North and South by John Jakes
Any of A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R. Martin
My favorite from the list, though, is The Stand by Stephen King

disagree. long books are tough sells... people spend so much of their time glued to their tiny smartphone screens, taking in the world in short bursts... a long read is an investment in time and attention, two things in short supply in today's world...
I know it's not a classic (yet!) but I am shocked to find NO Stormlight books like The Way of Kings from Brandon Sanderson on here. Oathbringer is still one of the longest books I've ever read. One of the most enjoyable too.

You're not wrong.
Book series that were missed:Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy and Stephen King's Dark Tower series.
I've read fifteen of these and have three of them on the TBR. Additions I would make include:Kristin Lavransdatter - Sigrid Undset
The Tale of Genji - Murasaki Shikibu
Black Reconstruction in America 1860-1880 - W.E.B. Du Bois
The Second Sex - Simone de Beauvoir
among others.
The Name of the Wind and The Stand mentioned in this list - 100 times 100 times yes. Drop whatever you're reading right now and read those books.

Truth to this unfortunately /:
River City by John Farrow . 864 fabulous pages!
Kristin Lavransdatter and Tale of Genji are both good shouts from AubreyI would add:
The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling Fielding, Henry
Darconville's Cat Theroux, Alexander
The Gray House Petrosyan, Mariam
Underworld DeLillo, Don
Darkmans Barker, Nicola
Cryptonomicon Stephenson, Neal
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle Murakami, Haruki
Good list."Count of Monte Cristo" was the first eBook I read. Not obsessing (and being intimidated) by the size and length in this format, this felt so much shorter.
A fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable read, and you don't necessarily have to be a fan of "classic literature".
"Shogun" was also a quick read, despite the page count.
I agree with other who endorse "The Stand" .... a true latter-day classic. Stephen King peaked early, much like Orson Welles with "Citizen Kane".
I would add "The Source" by James Michener. If you love historical fiction, this is for you.
I'm not sure but I think Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code are more than 600 pages , if that so then they are also my favorite long books 🤍
Thank you to those who posted about Stephen King’s The Stand and DT series; They have long since been on my TBR list from the many I ask “What’s your favorite book?”I just started The Stand last night. Based on the comments here, I am so looking forward to descending into this read!!! My aforementioned above may be a bit shy of 600+ and some are from my youthful days (early twenties) but I loved the long read nonetheless.

Oh my gosh Wild Swans is so good. I haven't read it in so long!
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...The Labyrinth Of The Spirits is a good one...sometimes I'm a slow reader but I devoured this in less than 3 weeks!...it's 800+ pages! :)
