10 Years of Goodreads Choice Award All-Stars
For the past decade, the Goodreads Choice Awards have put the power in our readers' hands by letting them decide the best books of the year. In honor of this celebrated tradition, we decided to take a look at the authors who took home the gold again and again.
We call these multi-winners the "Goodreads Choice Award All-Stars"—champions whose books have won at least three or more times throughout the awards’ history. And while the categories have slightly changed over the years, our readers' love for these authors is enduring.
At the top of this list is Rick Riordan, whose middle-grade fantasy series about young demigods has set the record for seven consecutive wins in the Best Middle Grade category. He's followed by other fan favorites, including Stephen King (Best Horror), Veronica Roth (Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction), Colleen Hoover (Best Romance), Pierce Brown (Best Science Fiction), and many more.

From King, I read Wind Trough the Keyhole, absolute winner.

Agreed. I don't read books written for teenagers nor do I read romance novels. Stephen King was alright when I was 12, but I tried to reread a Stephen King book in my twenties and got about 40 pages into it before thinking "Why am I reading this garbage?" and never picked up another book by him again.
I feel like we adults who read books written for our own age group are a dwindling minority and it really worries me that endless cookie-cutter, depoliticized dystopias with interchangeable teenage protagonists might be the future of novels.

There's no historical fiction. There are no mysteries. There are no westerns, so it's not just genre-fiction that matters; it's this (these) genres.

Give Stephen King's The Mercedes Killer series a try It's more thriller than horror. I enjoyed all three books in the series (and like you I wasn't impressed with his earlier books.

What do you mean all of ricks books are good

I also agree. There are very few books on this list that might begin to interest me. Something that might qualify as real literature or historical fiction would be worth a vote

(I won the nonfiction category just once, because I only produced one book in that time. Granted, I'm slow, but most serious nonfiction books take several years, and so does most great fiction.)
There are great writers on the full list, but they mostly wrote a book or two in that time, not three to seven.

These are the genre books. Try Goodreads' "Best of the Best" nominees here. (And you can vote for my book, Columbine, if you like--or just find lots of great choices.)

I wondered the same thing. My favorites are historical fiction.
