21 Big Books of Fall

Posted by Hayley on August 28, 2017
We miss fall reading. Every season is a good one for a reader (because every season has books), but we're ready to move on from summer. We have stormy nights waiting for us, hot drinks to warm our hands…and irresistible new books from some of our favorite authors.

Seriously, this season is going to be awesome for book lovers. We're getting highly anticipated stories from John Green, Stephen King, Jennifer Egan, Philip Pullman, Sarah J. Maas, and Dan Brown—as well as stunning literary debuts, buzzy political memoirs, and more.

Don't have time to read everything in sight? We know the feeling. That's why we crunched the numbers to find the books Goodreads members and early readers are adding to their shelves and loving. Every book on our list has a 4.0+ rating. Which ones catch your eye?

Add some chocolate to........"

Autumn and winter are the best, but a gray, rainy day in the summer comes close. There's something really soothing, cozy, curling up with a good book while it rains & lightnings outside.

How is it Rena? Hearing really good things!

message 62: by Jerrie (new)

Jerrie I wish this every day, Rena. I have so many books to read and new ones I want to add to the list every month. I regret that at my age I will never be able to read them. That is why I always tell young people that they don't see this when they are young but they should never waste their time rereading a book because that means that they will regret that some other book will someday be left unread.

message 63: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Great books. Love and Other Consolation Prizes, The Last Ballad, and Bonfire.

Don't you just love the Kindle samples? I'm addicted to them. I always have about 7 or 8 on my Kindle at a time. When I go browsing, I always end up with an orgy of Kindle samples at the end of it. lol

Couldn't agree more. Beware the hype machine, convincing readers something is great and deserving when it isn't!

message 75: by Aliok (new)

Aliok I read an excerpt from 'My Absolute Darling' and was not impressed.

message 76: by A. H. Reaume (new)

A. H. Reaume Sing, Unburied, Sing is a MASTERPIECE. It is not just a 'good book this year' or one likely to sweep up the prize money and awards and be mostly forgotten by readers a few years from now. IT. IS. A. MASTERPIECE. On par with As I Lay Dying, Beloved, Their Eyes Were Watching God. It is the best contemporary book that I've read in... I don't know how long. If you read one book this fall - make it this one. Seriously, you will thank me!
