Terrible news has come in over the transom-- friend of the press Darius James, author of the classic books
Negrophobia and
Blaxploitation: Roots of the Baadasssss 'Tude, has suffered a devastating house fire. Darius's living situation has been destroyed. He and his sister are now in a precarious state that borders on near homelessness.
A GoFundMe has been set up to try and cover the costs (which are substantial) of a refurbishment to keep Darius from ruin. Donate
here.
Darius is a wonderful writer and needs the help. You can read a little bit of background here, in
an interview he did with BOMB just before the launch of
Negrophobia. Let's try and avoid the very American tendency of letting our artists die in the street.
