Powell's Event

Hi!

I finally get to settle down and write this week which is something I've haven't been able to do for a while. I had a great event at Powell's last Thursday in Beaverton, Oregon. A good sized group showed up and I had a lot of people I knew in the audience which is always fun. We had a good number of Deaf people in the audience so Powell's graciously provided an interpreter who ended up being a good friend of mine. He was assisted by a good friend of mine who is one of my former coworkers. First I did a reading of the first couple pages of the prologue of Tiger's Curse which ended up being a really bad decision for the interpreter. Though his wife and mom have both read the book, his mom being one of the Lindas the book is dedicated to in fact, he hasn't.  The poor guy had to fingerspell Bhreenam, Mujulaain, Lokesh, etc. I felt really bad and will choose a better selection next time. I should know better which is the really sad thing.

After the reading we had a great Q & A discussion which included some good questions I haven't been asked before.  For example, I was asked which book in the series is my favorite. The answer is Voyage. Another one asked why the eyes of the tiger were so blue. I came up with something really profound like...because they're pretty. I just signed books after that. It was a very exciting and fun kick off for the Curse tour.  My next stop is a Costco in Portland on Saturday, which is great because it's it free sample day and I love browsing the book section anyway.  Below are a few pictures.

Isn't that poster pretty? I singed it with a silver marker and it's up in their author display now. Have a great week everybody!
