January Write Up
This year started with a BANG.
And, by BANG, I mean: me being unconscious from around 10:45pm on New Years’ Eve for the first New Years’ we weren’t hosting in 3 years. It was bliss. The sleeping doubly so. :)
New Years’ day dawned with the usual crew of hanger-on-ers who stayed the night at our host’s place and one overly sociable bird. By the end of the day, I was literally across town and at the beginning of a 10 hour conversation that has flavoured the rest of the month in a quite positive way.
I have a dear… lady-friend with whom I’m allowed to hold hands while walking down the street even though it’s near where she lives.
This month, I have edited two pieces of writing and sent them both off; one a collection call and the other an already accepted piece. As well, I have the beginnings of a new novel in the works.
Complimenting that, I’ve been working near full time hours at work as we get ready to open our IVF theatre at the end of February. SO exciting. I can’t wait to help make such a difference in the lives of so many families.
And as if that all isn’t enough, I’ve so far read 15 books this year, (some of which I’ve posted about here:
F2M (transition)Not Otherwise Specified (bisexual/anorexia)
What We Left Behind (lesbian/non-binary)
But most are on my Goodreads account). This is an astronomical number, and I don’t even know what to do with that.
On the music front, I’ve been listening to the Ghost Musical on repeat and wondering if there’s anyone that I can con into going to see it with me….
This month also brought me a satisfactory label for a gender identity to fit what I’ve been using my words for for years; words that had, more and more, not quite been cutting it of late. I described it to a friend as being aware that there was this whole within your identity that just wasn’t being encompassed by any of the other labels flying around.
It’s nothing more than that, really. The hole is no longer a hole. Joyous!
Finally, January was rounded up by our first ever Australia Day Poly FauxBQ that seems to have reverberated out into amazing or interesting outcomes and epiphanies for almost everyone who was there.
