"'The Choir' is an otherworldly, almost minimalist hymn. Morly's crystalline vocals floating, and then soaring, over her elegantly stark production and that cavernous bass, resulting in the most stunning and soulful thing the young Minnesotan has released so far." - Gorilla Vs Bear
"Morly's songs are delicate creations, memory-faded snapshots built out of dusty, soulful piano melodies, sparse electronics, and layered wordless vocals." - Stereogum
"Sigur Rós-meets-Jon Hopkins sounds" - The Line Of Best Fit
"... [Morly creates a] washed out atmosphere, and the simultaneous quality of being warm and inviting." - The 405
Morly embodies the idea that one person can do it all. The Minnesota-born singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer emerged onto the music scene a year ago with a single on Ryan Hemsworth's widely-respected Secret Songs platform. She quickly caught the attention of Cascine who signed her and released her, mostly instrumental, debut EP, In Defense of My Muse (August 2015). Morly, known for her minimalist approach to creating music and strong choral background, returns with the angelic, low-fi single "The Choir" (out now on Cascine). The track is led by Morly's soulful voice, and displays her most prominent use of vocals on a song to date. PRESS HERE TO LISTEN.
"This song is something I've been trying to articulate-lyrically and musically-for a long time," expressedMorly. "I wrote it a while ago, but felt it was missing something. I played it for one of my favorite producers, Psymun, and he really liked it. So we spent the afternoon at his spot in Minneapolis giving it some additional Psymun love."
