(Columbia Records; New York, NY; January 8, 2016) Chairlift is proud to announce the release of their new song “Crying In Public.” The stunning track showcases Caroline Polachek’s halting vocals over a smooth yet layered beat complete with synth and measured drums. “Crying In Public” serves as the third offering from their forthcoming album Moth, which is now available for pre-order on all digital sales providers.

Says Caroline Polachek, "'Crying In Public' was written about a kind of moment familiar to many New Yorkers, where you’re caught up in all these anxieties that seem huge, and then the smallest gesture from someone who loves you can stop you dead in your tracks, all the bullshit falls away, and you’re suddenly humbled by how overwhelmingly beautiful the world is. It’s the closest Patrick and I have ever come to writing a devotional."
The track, which follows the much-lauded “Ch-Ching” and “Romeo,” both of which were named Best New Music by Pitchfork, was premiered on Rookie and is currently available on all digital sales providers. “Crying In Public,” alongside “Romeo” and “Ch-Ching” can be found on the forthcoming album Moth, which releases both physically and digitally on January 22, 2016 via Columbia Records.
Track list for Moth:
Look Up
Polymorphing
Romeo
Ch-Ching
Crying In Public
Ottawa to Osaka
Moth To The Flame
Show U Off
Unfinished Business
No Such Thing As Illusion
In support of Moth, Chairlift will perform two special concerts during release week. Chairlift will perform in Los Angeles at the Teragram Ballroom on January 23rd and in New York City at the National Sawdust on January 26th. Additionally, Chairlift has added two shows in the Northeast: fans can now see Chairlift perform in Boston, MA on January 20th and in Hamden, CT on January 21st.
An evolution from their last album, 2012’s Something, Moth proves to be an emotionally uninhibited and markedly stronger, more pop inspired body of work. A very New York City inspired album, listeners can expect to be led through an aural mix of big, rich pop inspired hooks, vibrating bass, lively brass and sensuous R&B inspired vocals, all anchored in the duo’s meticulously crafted instrumentation.
