Why this blog

I am an author of nine books, a memoir and two series of novels. However I have also been a keen reader all my remembered life, ever since discovering and reading my first Famous Five novel, tucked in an obscure corner of a holiday house in a place called Kangaroo Valley on the south coast of NSW. Other wonderful reading memories are being one of five children gathered around my mother on a Sunday afternoon when she read King Solomon's Mines and about Mowgli in the Jungle Book. That was a long time ago but the magic of being lost in a story has never left me.

So the purpose of these posts which I will try to do each week is to tell of some memorable occasions where what I have read has fired my imagination.

I will not talk about my own books - they are listed on my author page for anyone who wants to read them.

I encourage you too to share your magic book and reading memories.
