THE FIRST LAUGH

Absorb all the laughs you can. Nothing in the world compares.

When Smiley laughed for the first time she laughed-hard!

And the best part? She laughed with me. (To be more accurate, it was AT me).

We walked to the car as a family as Mom held her and I walked ahead to open the door for them. Then, like the graceful dove I am, I tripped over my flip flops (which is appropriate to wear at all times where I’m from in Central Florida) and ran my big toe directly into the asphalt.

Before I could let out an “Ouch,” she let out something much sweeter. An innocent little giggle. (It’s always funny when Dads hurt themselves). She then gave Mom a “What the heck just came outta me?” look. She probably thought her stomach broke or something.

I guess she must’ve liked it, though, because she did it again. And again. And again. And then again. We’ve got a giggly girl on our hands.

I can’t wait to keep trying to make that laugh come out. (I’ll just have to make sure to keep band-aids and ice near me at all times).
