The Rebel's Sketchbook First Professional Review!

Hi Folks

I was contacted a few months ago by a contributing editor at Pop Matters called Imran. Pop Matters is an influential online publication which offers cultural criticism on all aspects of the creative arts. I sent Imran a copy of Spark alongside some short stories which were then to be included in The Rebel’s Sketchbook. From this exchange Imran offered to review The Rebel’s Sketchbook once it was released.

Fast forward a couple of months and the review has just gone live. I am very thankful to Imran and the folks at Pop Matters for giving me some credible media exposure - something which indie authors are usually starved of.

If you’ve read The Rebel’s Sketchbook, let me know what you think of the review. Here is the link:

The good news is that I’m now technically famous so I might even get my own Wikipedia page soon – something I’ve always dreamed about. Celebrity Big Brother have already been in touch and are presently considering my application for next year’s show so things are looking up.

I'll provide you all with another update on upcoming projects soon. Meanwhile it’s time to switch on this webcam so I can start filming the crazy after-party.

Speak soon!

Jason We can edit your wiki page can't we?

message 2: by Rupert (new)

Rupert Dreyfus Cheers for your thoughts, Catfood! :-)

Jason: apparently I'm not allowed to touch my own page but I can suggest to you what to write ;-D

message 3: by Jason (new)

Jason Not a bad review, the reviewer sounds like they are a hard person to please, so yer final score must be pretty good.

I could so be your biographer. Already got the conclusion snorted.

I would recommend you read this book to understand what I am going to do with his remains... The Damage Done

message 6: by Mike (new)

Mike Robbins I did read of a woman who allegedly snorted her mother's ashes when high, so I'm afraid the thought of Rupert's conclusion being snorted was a little alarming.

message 7: by Jason (new)

Jason It's the way he wants to go... well at least that's what it states in his biography.

message 8: by Mike (new)

Mike Robbins Is it? How splendid.
I plan to live to 105, then die at the hands of a jealous husband.

message 9: by Jason (new)

Jason I'm gonna live right up until the end.

Of course I didn't! And thanks for the kind words!

I think GG Allin would be proud of us if I'm snorted up after I croak it.

That's a good way to go out, Mike! :-)

Emerald If I hadn't read TRS and I read this review it would definitely make me want to read it, so from that perspective, its great. He does seem a tad too harsh at times, especially at the start but overall he makes the book sound pretty tasty. Congratulations on the rating.. thats pretty high.. well done!!!
When's the party?

message 14: by Rupert (new)

Rupert Dreyfus The party has already begun and it doesn't stop until we drop!

message 15: by Emerald (new)

Emerald drop what? ecstasy? our knickers? dead?

message 16: by Rupert (new)

Rupert Dreyfus Well, I've already done the first two so... ;-)

message 17: by Jason (new)

Jason I've had some cherry aid. Didn't drop it though.

G.G. Was always a gross-out-o-rama. Did you ever play that game, "Frankenstein's Cookbook", when you were a kid, where the loser had to eat whatever you mixed up in a bowl, sight unseen? Use your imagination for the worst possibilities.

and it was Keith Richards who claimed to have snorted his dead father.

message 24: by Jason (new)

Jason Never played that game cos I never had any friends.

message 25: by Harry (new)

Harry Whitewolf Congratulations on this review Rupert. Great to see your books getting the attention they deserve and it gives us all hope that Indie authors may soon be taken seriously by the mainstream. If a rebel can be the first to breakthrough, that's all the better.

message 26: by Rupert (new)

Rupert Dreyfus Thanks, Harry.

I don't know how much traction it will have, but if one of us can break through then this makes it easier for everyone else.

message 27: by Max (new)

Max Freeman Good job brother. Nice to see you get some exposure for this brilliant collection. Hope you sell a shed-load off the back of it bud. you deserve to.

message 28: by Rupert (new)

Rupert Dreyfus Thank you, Max!
