The Bare Bones of…CGI in films

Still pounding away at the keyboard to make the deadline for ‘Kalbrandt Institute’, so this week’s ‘Bare Bones’ will be a little different.

What: Computer generated special effects in films.

Why: Bad CGI is often accused of ruining cinema, but do we even realise how much of what we see on screen is computer generated? I knew it was much. I didn’t know it was this much. Why? Because with good CGI, you can’t tell.

Lessons learnt:

No matter how cool the characters, how extensive the world building, or how great the actor line-up for a film, none of that will cover for a bad plot and poor storytelling. A great story is made by a great story, not by the amount of accessories.
