The Coast Guard At Work…and Play!

For those who don't know, my husband is an officer in the Coast Guard, and he spends winters bopping around the Great Lakes on his Coast Guard boat, breaking ice.

This is him standing in the middle of Lake Michigan…with his boat behind him. It's about 4 degrees outside, and really, I think he's crazy. And cold.

Lisa does your husband know a Coast Guard captian friend of ours "Carey Godwin"? He is now on the East coast, but he was stationed in northern Michigan for quite a few years.

Sharon (Simi) Ehcstasy Oh my Lord - cold is right. I think I would rather be snuggled up with a good Larissa book.

Amanda Got to be crazy! You couldn't pay me enought to be out there in that cold. That's why I left the midwest for sunny AZ. I was out at the pool today. :)

Mary If I was standing out there not only would I be packing my daks but I reckon body parts would have started to fall off, like my nose. Hate the cold!

Lin Many, many thanks to both you and your husband. What he does is very vital to the safety and freedoms we enjoy. The sacrifices that you and your son make is what allows him to do his job.

Hope his next posting is somewhere warmer, but without hurricanes.
