See What the Australian Carson Daly Keeps in His Fridge

Take the title literally: Jason Dundas, current LA resident/Aussie by nature, used to play VJ on the Australian version of TRL. He’s now a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and host of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, which also kind of makes him Ryan Seacrest (!!!), which sounds extremely busy, which must make him hungry. Which is exactly why Lauren Levinger of The Food Life went legally snooping in his fridge.

1) Feta: “I studied at the Institution of Integrated Nutrition in New York so I would know what to feed my kids. I don’t have kids…yet. But I do eat really clean. I keep it simple with vegetables and add a protein, but I can’t eat that everyday. So I add feta. It’s like my achilles heel. I think I drop a pack of feta every two days.”

2) Yogurt: “It’s for the same smoothie that I eat every single morning. I’m kind of weird like that — fully a creature of habit. I put the flax in it, chia seeds (good fiber, and they prevent hunger cravings throughout the day because they expand in your stomach), frozen blueberries, water, ice, frozen dates (nature’s caramel) and two bananas. I had it ten minutes before you arrived. It’s still in the sink.”

3) Kimchi: “When I was studying this course, they said you need probiotics — good bacteria. And eating my regular salad can get bland. This spices it up ever now and then.”

4) Fresh berries, kind of: “They’re in here just because of the photoshoot, to look pretty. I usually buy frozen fruit because it lasts longer.”

5) Spicy sausages: “These are an obsession of mine. Every time I go to Trader Joe’s or Ralphs, I buy their gourmet sausages. The more exotic or spiced, the better.

6) Teriyaki chicken and co: “I buy it every time I shop at Erewhon in West Hollywood. It’s amazing. I buy, like, ten pieces of it and eat it for a couple days on top of salads. I buy all the pre-made, salad-y things there too, like quinoa and couscous or cauliflower.”

7) Butter: “The butter is in here from when I made Anzac cookies, which are traditional Australian cookies for Australia Day. It’s like an oatmeal cookie.”

8) Dark Chocolate: “I have a dark chocolate obsession but I can’t eat the same brand more than once. I buy 5 packs at a time and eat half a pack a day, sometimes right when I wake up.”

9) Vegemite: “It’s an Australian thing. It’s also a nostalgic thing. I put it on rice cakes or toast. Or I just tease my American friends and make them eat it.”

10) Beer: “The beers are left-over from poker nights that I host every Friday. I don’t drink them, so people know that when they come over, whatever’s in the fridge is up for grabs.”
