Q and A with U and I

Chicago

Chicago. It’s home now.

Hearts on Fire Reviews has very kindly invited me to do an interview on their site, and it struck me that in a way I’m always being interviewed. By you guys! I get a lot of wonderful messages from people who have read my books, many of them asking great questions. Unfortunately, only one person ever sees each answer. So I thought for this interview, you could provide the questions. About what? Anything you want! My books, my personal life, your personal life. Maybe you need some advice. Perhaps you’ve got a beef with me. Is there an unresolved plot thread that’s been driving you crazy? Anything goes!

Ten of the most interesting/ridiculous/infuriating/poignant questions will be selected. Will there be prizes? Uh… Okay. Let’s make it something digital though, since an ocean still separates me from all of my possessions. If your question is selected, I’ll send you a story as an eBook. Already have all my stories? That’s what you think! Questions can be submitted below. Or anywhere really. It’s all good.

Dani What I would love to know, since I'm a queer German girl who has been living abroad for many years: What is the most signififcant way in which Germany is different from your roots in Texas? I assume that might depend on where you've ended up (Bavaria perhaps since you mentioned Pretzels? :D)
Specifically how is life as a gay man different?

Louis A Hi Jay, I hope the move is going well. Is Andreas getting adjusted to life in the US? how about your cat?
OK now my actual question: will there be a season for Caesar?

Derreck If you are living in Chicago... holy crud! That's amazing! We might bump into each other after all!

Al_barcelon Hi Jay, since in you're in the US now you should have book signings, i really want to meet you. I read almost all your books.

My question to you is, out of all the characters you wrote about who can you relate to the most and why?

message 5: by Kent (new)

Kent Hello Jay, a new fan of yours. I finished the first two of Something Like... series and I'm taking a break simply because, it's so good, that it's too much for me to take in.

I love Ben inside-out and of course my biggest question is, would you live a life just like Ben, assuming you never know about your (Ben) life's ups and downs and your fate? Why?

Beth Montgomery I adore your "Something Like" series, though I had the hardest time relating to Nathaniel out of all your main characters. I would love to see a Caesar book!

I must admit, though, that I was somewhat taken aback when I read Hell's Pawn, and there's Jace just chilling in Heaven. I was wondering why you decided to do that. And if Jace is in Heaven, where's Victor? Hell? Wouldn't Jace try to see him? And then when Ben and Tim die, what, they're just going to have a threesome in Heaven? The line about there being "more room for love up here" did very little to clarify.

This has nothing to do with the fact that I don't believe in an afterlife (I don't think) but felt that Jace's inclusion in the story raised too many questions, and also took away some of the emotional impact of his death, so I was curious about why you made that choice.

T OMG! Welcome to Chicago, Jay! What are your thoughts so far? If you need a good restaurant rec, I'm your girl. I'm right in Lakeview. I know a great few places where you can sit and write...Ceasar's book? Another Jason and William book? LOL
