Hello and I hope to meet fellow Sherlockians, mystery buffs, and those who love Victorian thrillers. When I read a book set in the past, one of the delights for me is the research, the sense of time and place: the technology, the foods, the news events, the social trends, the weather, the clothes, I want to be transported. In ART IN THE BLOOD,set in 1888, Holmes and Watson encounter Bohemian Paris and the excitement of Montmartre and the Chat Noir, a high tech (for the time) silk mill, and a few cutting edge social trends including the craze for everything Oriental, the changing laws of child labor, crime and punishment, and more.
