Big Finish Sweeps the Scribe Awards Shortlist!

Spoilers, but it’s official. The winner of the Scribe Award for International Association of Media Tie-In Writers in the Audio category is going to go to Big Finish! That’s right, Big Finish has made a clean sweep of the nominations shortlist. An impressive feat to be sure, but the real mystery is still to be solved: we know Big Finish will win but which audio is taking home the prize? Let’s take a look at the nominees and speculate, shall we?

Doctor Who: Iterations of I, the second half of last August’s box set that reunited the original Fifth Doctor TARDIS team has earned the sole Doctor Who entry in the running for the Scribe Award this year. If you’ll recall, dear readers, The Fifth Doctor Box Set saw the Big Finish debut of Matthew Waterhouse’s Adric. The adventure was penned by John Dorney and is an interesting take on a haunted house story.

The other nominees are as follows:

Dark Shadows: The Devil Cat by Mark Thomas Passmore
Dark Shadows: The Darkest Shadow by Nev Fountain
Blake’s 7: Fortuitas by George Mann
Pathfinder: The Skin Saw Murders by Cavan Scott

A lot of great stories in that list! Obviously, we’d like to see a Doctor Who audio take the win, but regardless it’s a decisive victory for the folks at Big Finish. The awards will be announced at San Diego Comic Con on July 1st. The ceremony will also honor Terrance Dicks with the 2015 Faust Award for his work on the Doctor Who Target novelisations.
