The Babadook a Stoker Took (A Preview of Sorts of World Horror Con 2015)

Back from World Horror Convention on a flight leaving Atlanta from Gate 13C and seated in the planes 13th row (or actually closer to row 13.5) but, despite the omen, on a smooth flight that got in early. In fact the only bit of real bad luck was, when I checked the mail the catsitter had collected while I was gone, my authors copies of AIRSHIPS & AUTOMATONS and MONK PUNK AND SHADOW OF THE UNKNOWN OMNIBUS still had not yet arrived.

On the other hand, the cave cat Wednesday was happy and healthy when I returned home, greeting me when I opened the door and, especially cute (or disgusting depending on one’s perspective), had caught a mouse while I was gone and left its little corpse in the hall entryway where I would find it. Also on the plus side, I had gotten a chance to at least touch a copy of MONK PUNK. . . . (it actually exists!) in the convention Dealers Room as well as receiving in my own hands my authors copies of REEL DARK with my story Marcie and Her Sisters (cf. May 4, et al.) in the number three spot in the contents. Also the Indiana University Cinemas prescience was confirmed by screenwriter/director Jennifer Kents winning the Superior Achievement in a Screenplay Stoker for THE BABADOOK (for my review, see January 23). More of WHC shall appear in the coming days, which is to say after Ive rested a bit, but here for now is a complete list, courtesy of Tom Calen via the Horror Writers Association Facebook page, of 2015 Stoker Award winners:
