Race bias is rearing its ugly head again. Based on their own sense of racial superiority, two prominent Afrikaaners in the public eye came out with derogatory statements. On his Facebook page, pop singer Steve Hofmeyr crudely blames the 'propaganda of entitlement among black people' for the brutal murder of a Free state family. In answer to a question from a journalist, winner of the 2010 K Sello Duiker Memorial Literary award, Annelie Botes says that she does n't like black people because she feels threatened by them.

Both these incidents have prompted a debate mainly amongst white South Africans some pro and some critical of the statements and is the basis of Zapiro's cartoon. 'Live from Boerassic Park' (Jurassic Park) was a cabaret show put on by Pieter Dirk Uys back in 1997.
