David remains in Spokane at Marcia's bedside, and Bastian is on the East Coast completing PreClan military software installations. Both men worry about Teresa as she and Red close in on the vicious gang cutting a bloody swath of terror through the Sierra Mountains.
Sifting through forensic evidence is barely finished when tragedy strikes; an avalanche and missing skiers whose only hope is top notch rescue dog. Team Red has never been more in demand.

The goobers have drained all my energy,” she confided, tugging the coffee mug from my hand, inhaling with exaggerated breaths, “God, this smells so good. Ken won’t even buy any for the house anymore. It’s a sad day when I must resort to sniffing coffee fumes like a coke addict.”
“Put that cup down, right this minute, young lady!” Ken ordered in his best I-am-man-hear-me-roar voice. “We agreed, no caffeine until you stop breastfeeding.” He reached across the table to snatch my mug from her grip.
“I was just smelling it,” Janey whined.
“It starts innocently with a sniff,” Ken replied sagely, and more calmly now that temptation had been removed from the hands of his hormonal beloved. “Then, before you realize it’s happening, you are drawn in by the enticing aroma of the omnipotent coffee bean. Baby, you’re weak, you know this. No sniffing.”
