Kinky community in San Diego, where art thou?

K is clearly for Kink, although I’m having a bit of trouble coming up with specifics on that, San Diego. Apparently all the kinksters in town are very secretive about where they hang out. God forbid any of us creepy normals find out where to have fun, eh?*

I mean, what kind of dude wouldn’t wanna play Jockstrap Twister?

Sadly not a shot from San Diego!

In my internet searches, I did stumble up a site called KinkyPartys, which has a calendar for events. Unfortunately it seems to be stuck in December — year unknown!

The funniest part is that beneath the calendar, it says:

“The BDSM & Kink community here in San Diego is one of the most active and organized in the USA. There is at least one, sometimes many, public events occurring all the time around town. You can become aware of those events by visiting this schedule often. There are as many, if not more, private events happening all the time. To become part of the private events simply become part of the public events.

Okay then!

Delving a little deeper, I was able to locate a group called Kindred-Thru-Kink, whose mission statement suggests that the Kink community is “alive and well” here in San Diego, and encourages people interested in 50 Shades of Grey to explore BDSM in a safe, sane environment. The group’s stated goals include “creating workshops educational events, play parties, fund raisers, and social gatherings will will strengthen ties between all San Diego Kinksters.”

The group’s Upcoming Events page suggests a get-together called DomCon from May 13 to 19. DomCon is held in LA, so it looks like San Diego’s kinky community is still having to make the trip north for its big to-dos.

If you’re looking for leather, your best bet is the San Diego Eagle, a bar that sponsors the Mr. San Diego Eagle contest, as well as a variety of special events each month. For the rest of April, you can look forward to:

Sports Gear Social — April 16
Cowboys & Kinksters — April 17
Holey Jeans Night — April 18
And the Underwear Party, hosted by Mr. San Diego Eagle 2015 himself — April 25

On a totally unrelated note, does anyone else find it odd that this image came up when I searched for “Mr. San Diego Eagle 2015″?

jigga-what?

Not even kidding. Has someone been getting kinky with your tags, Republicans?

And finally, it looks like I just missed the 17th anniversary party for Club Sabbat, billed as “San Diego’s classiest Gothic, Industrial and Fetish event.” But fear not, fetish fans: you can still make the April 25 military theme night!

Club Sabbat also takes over Numb3rs Nightclub every 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturday, so there’s plenty of opportunities to dance your ass off, or mix and mingle with San Diego’s fetish folk.

San Diego Eagle is located at 3040 North Park Way, and Numb3rs is located at 3811 Park Boulevard – both in North Park.

*To be fair, many people in kink/BDSM communities throughout the U.S. tend to be a bit secretive, precisely because their fetishes and fantasies aren’t always accepted or understood by the mainstream. The best starting point to find out more about kinky happenings in any city is usually FetLife, a free site that’s basically Facebook for kink enthusiasts.
