Camp NaNoWriMo – Ready! Set! And… oh… oops.

Last year, I did Camp NaNoWriMo in April and, in all modesty, kicked ass. I clocked in at 66K at the end of the month.

This year, I signed up again, was pumped and ready to go… and April started…and I didn’t.

Camp NaNoWriMo

I’m writing this post on April 4th which means I’m already 3 full days in the hole. And one of those days was a holiday from work–a gift to be productive in things other than gainful employment. And what did I do on Good Friday? I slept. I caught up on sleep, napped for a few hours, then slept pretty soundly through the night as well. Clearly, I needed it. So I don’t feel guilty about missing the day. But I am behind.

I feel mentally behind the game. Learning a new job and handling a new set of hours and lifestyle, things are a bit of a challenge. I am tired and exhausted and, simply put, I haven’t had the time to properly prepare for Camp NaNoWriMo like I should have.

Today, I want to change that. I have an Inkette in the haus *waves to Elisa* and a decently clear schedule to get started. I have no distractions except for brewing more coffee and making food to calm the caffeine jitters. I am ready to take on this project.

My goal is 30K this time around. I don’t have a solid plot or outline ready. I don’t even know what project I want to work on but I’m going to try to at least get the words to screen.

Are you doing Camp NaNo? Even if you aren’t, what are your goals for the month?
