I've quit Facebook for a while: too little real stuff…I'll be here, depend on it.

Facebook was just getting more and more full of silly and just not the community this place is. So I'm devoting myself to the blog and to Closed Circle, which is where I'd rather be. Jane and I came to that conclusion pretty well a month ago, but hung on because we decided to try the ad-thing, just in case it worked—it didn't. And I think we've reached the conclusion here is better on a multitude of grounds.

So both of us will not be posting much over there, and I'm already feeling better about it.

Brenda I just finished Conspirator and Regenesis and want you to know they were both excellent. I have read the Cyteen stories several times over the years and the Foreigner series is one of my favorites. Can't wait for the next installments.

Thank you for making it easier to purchase your books directly.

Teri Dluznieski I just had a very long ( monthlong ongoing) discussion with someone who does promotional work. It was insightful and eye-opening, about how to harness the power of social networking. I typed up notes, and am willing to pass along the info if interested. Places like FB and twitter, should mostly serve as a portal, post your blog entries/ links to them, and updates. But generally, not the place to linger-loiter:) and yeah, it is a soul-drain.. not to mention a downright scary article I just read about HOW MUCH data people can mine, even from public profile info- right down to facial recognition programs to match your face with your info. And this wasn't conspiracy-paranoia writing. fortunately, I use my horse as my profile pic.. I wonder what kind of data-mining that creates... maybe he's been visiting those online dating sites behind my back? would explain the weird SPAM I always get:)

But thanks for the input, re goodreads v Facebook as a portal and hub. goodreads definitely gets ME reading more. Now all I need is a site that gets me writing more. :)
