Another great science fiction actor and icon from the Star Trek Universe has left us. Leonard Nimoy, age 83, who played Mr, Spock in the original Star Trek series passed away today at this home. He had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for over a year and was hospitalized for it early this week. Mr. Nimoy reprised the character in all the Star Trek movies based on the original series, plus episodes in the Star Trek: The Next Generation. In recent years, he played an older Spock in the two J.J. Abrams Star Trek films.
Mr. Nimoy has inspired so many of us who enjoy sci-fi shows and showed his talents in different ways including poetry, music, and directing. He directed two of the Star Trek movies and a comedy, Three Men and a Baby.
We wish you a fond farewell, Mr. Nimoy. You have set upon a great new journey in the afterlife, but your legend and inspiration will always live long and prosper. Rest in peace.
