Well, now I've gone and done it…
[image error]I felt like cr** on Monday (nasty stomach bug or something) and wanted a break in the evening, and so I texted hubbie and asked if it'd be crazy to go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I mean, I figured I'd get next to no work done in the evening, right?
He said that yes, it would be crazy, but why not. And so we dumped the kids at my mom's and off we went.
And, yes, I loved it. (Those kids have SO grown as actors). Deathly Hallows–while I did love it–was a loooooooooong book, and my fear was that they were going to turn it into two loooooooong movies when it would move better as one tight, albeit longish, movie.
But I think they did it right.
I teared up at the opening, jumped at surprises, and generally had an awesome time (with the exception of the end, because now, dang it, I have to wait until July for the rest!).
So kudos to Rowling and the team in Hollywood!
But what have I gone and done? Well, now of course I want to reread all 7 of the books. I mean, I *really* want to. I've read the first one a gazillion times, the 2nd a few gobzillion less, etc. etc. in diminishing returns until number 7, which I've only read twice. Nice, in a way, as I had forgotten some things that were coming in the film and wasn't bugged about the inevitable cutting of things I liked in the book (as I don't remember what they were).
Alas, I'm on deadline and don't have time. But come December 15, I'm digging in-and that's despite the pile of books on my TBR pile. Sometimes, you just crave a comfort read, and for me, the HP series is just that!
What are y'all's favorite comfort reads? Are you a re-reader?
