When writing a novel, getting too serious can put too much pressure on you. Do the research. Do the work. Nail your grammar and spelling. But when you’re worn out, indulge in episodes of whimsey.

What? You’re not up to getting a new pet? That’s understandable. Whether you’re a writer or have another very busy occupation, caring for a dragon will keep you on your toes. They are equipment intensive. You need oven mitts. They might chase the other pets in the house. Until they are all acquainted, it’s best to separate them from the newcomer. You will need several fire extinguishers. Oh, and you’ll want to get a little dragon bed. I hear they cry for several nights because they’re scared.�� A blanket, hot water bottle and a ticking clock might comfort them, but for goodness sakes make sure that alarm is turned off.�� You don’t want to scare your little dragon and burn the house down.

When you wake up in the morning, don’t be alarmed to find him sleeping on your pillow next to your head. You are the comfort person. I hear dragons when they choose their person are devoted.�� Lucky you!
