Daily Herald: I am a woman who has it all, just not all at the same time

Ten-year-old girls rule the world. I have no research studies or stats to prove my thesis. I was just once a 10-year-old girl myself. Playing with “Star Wars” action figures right alongside of my Barbie dolls, never considering I couldn’t have and be it all! Dreams of being a mother and teacher seemed as reachable as becoming a doctor and wife.

So now I am the mother of a 10-year-old girl. She is amazing, smart and free. No trace of fears and insecurities that may still come with the teen years. The opinions of boys and limiting doubts haven’t crept into her psyche yet. Brooklyn can paint her toe nails, build forts and read books about space travel believing all the time that she can be anything she wants to be in the world. The rest of the article….
