Contradiction Starring Paul Darrow & John Guilor Out Now For iPad!

We’ve been waiting, and you have too. Finally, the day has arrived – Contradiction, starring Paul Darrow, Rupert Booth and John Guilor, is available to puchase for iPad!

Basically this is an interactive movie and alongside Paul Darrow (The Silurians, Timelash, Blake’s 7), Rupert Booth and John Guilor (The Day of the Doctor) you’ll find a cast of talented actors and actresses whose job it is to, well, basically tell porkies. Once you spot the contradiction in their accounts, you progress through the adventure…

Contradiction is the first fully interactive, all-video murder mystery adventure game. Everything you see is live-action video, with real actors in atmospheric locations. You decide where to go, where to investigate, who to speak to and what to ask. As the story unfolds you’ll meet new people, witness new events and discover new places.

You investigate with Inspector Jenks, who has been assigned to the case of a student found murdered in an idyllic English country village.

You meet several characters during the game, most of whom you can visit as often as you like. You can ask these characters about any item of evidence or information that you’ve collected along the way.

The aim (and name) of the game is to spot contradictions in what they’ve said. By consulting your notes and pairing together two contradictory replies, Jenks will interrogate the character and they will be forced to reveal new information, allowing you to progress further through the game.

To complete the game, all you need to do is reveal all the contradictions. Sounds simple? Well, we’ll see…

Incidentally, the man behind the project, Tim Follin, has produced a great soundtrack and recommends that players use headphones for “a more immersive experience.” Good advice!

Now, if you’re new to the whole subject of Contradiction, then we have some treats for you. First of all, there’s a CultCast with Tim Follin and John Guilor that you should listen to, in which they tell us more about the game. I’ve also taken a look at interactive movies for MakeUseOf.com, which features Contradiction. Finally, John Guilor and Rupert Booth recently appeared on the podKast to chat and there are a couple of mentions of Contradiction in there.

This game basically heralds a new era in gaming on the iPad. Interactive movies, lengthy video games with actors appearing throughout rather than as voices, are now possible, as proved by Tim Follin. Contradiction deserves your support – don’t miss out!
