Airline Passengers: Please Refrain From Seeking Fresh Air

Airline passengers: I realize planes can get stuffy. However, I must ask that you do not open the doors. You’d think this would go without saying, but apparently not.

Yeah, according to the article a Chinese passenger opened an emergency exit door because he wanted some fresh air. Granted, the plane was not yet in the air. However, it was about to take off. According to the article, the man did not realize that opening the door was dangerous.

While this is possible, and I’m struggling to imagine someone who wouldn’t think this dangerous, I’m not entirely comfortable with the idea that this guy could have been on one of my flights.

Those doors should stay closed.

It just boggles my mind. Lots boggles my mind, though, so maybe it’s just me. It’s never occurred to me to open those doors when the flight crew didn’t already have them open. I can’t believe someone didn’t stop him.
