Better not

"I've never heard you talk about girls," Julie said to James.

"You musta gotten some all over the world," Liam said. "What country has the easiest women?" Michaela shot him a look that wiped the smile from his face.

"My parents believe sex is for the confines of marriage. They practice different religions, so when they agree on something, I pay close attention."

"You're a crack-smoking virgin?" Liam asked, incredulous.

"I am, although I prefer now to think of myself as a former crack-smoker."

Ann said, "You're a handsome guy. You've been everywhere. You must have had a lot of chances with women."

"I spent a summer in New Zealand sharing an apartment with the son of another diplomat. He spent most of his time 'island hopping' with the local girls. I believe he planned to bed every single girl in New Zealand, whilst working his way toward Australia. Sometimes his girl would have a friend. The friend would be left straining to hear the television over the noise from my roommate's bedroom. Many was the night some poor girl knocked on my bedroom door, asking if I wanted company. Once a naked woman woke me by slapping a belt against my bedpost."

"And you never once gave in!? Dude, you're something else," Emu said. "I'd have to give in to that kind of temptation the very first time."

"Sorely tempted, but surely redempted," James said.

"Huh?" Liam asked.

James smiled, "It means I have faith I was meant for something better."

"What kind of better?" Ann asked.

"Always something better than right now. I am a Christian, so a better Christian. Whatever you are, resisting temptation will make you better, and lead to better things."

Today I will remember I was meant for something better.
