Chapter 255: Already Gone
Hidden within an opanim’s whirling rings, Tamaes sang of longing—for his twin, for his mentor, for his charge. He ended with a renewal of trust. No matter how he was tried, he would remain true.
“Amen and amen!”
Tamaes recognized that voice!
Once the rings slowed enough, he leapt free, all but crashing into his mentor. Only there were tears in Taweel’s eyes, and Tamaes panicked. “No!”
Taweel hauled him close. “Fear not.”
“Adin!” Tamaes struggled free and begged, “Where is my brother?”
“He is already gone.” Taweel’s next words were heavy with relief. “Adin has finally been Sent.”
