 
  Chapter 254: No Easy Answer
“What’s wrong?”
Tamaes winced as Taji tightened the bandages over a gash in his upper arm.
“Something’s on your mind,” Taji insisted. “Otherwise Bern wouldn’t have been able to land a blow.”
How could he answer? Tamaes knew something was wrong … or that something might go wrong. But in some vague hope that he was mistaken about Adin, Tamaes kept quiet. Instead, he said, “I do not understand why Taweel sent me away.”
“Does the reason matter?”
“To me … yes.”
Taji frowned. “Then why didn’t you ask him?”
Tamaes quietly admitted, “Because I was afraid of the answer.”
