Wayward Ways

I have wayward ways

One part of me could just leave today

One part of me thinks that I should stay

Want to travel the world someday

I have wayward ways

Sometimes I miss our nights

But adventure always fights

To take me from this place

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start a new.

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start a new.

I have wayward ways

Don’t make up my mind easily

I wish I could have it both ways

Go and stay without hesitancy

I have wayward ways

Sometimes I miss our nights

But adventure always fights

To take me from this place

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start a new.

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start…

Travel maps, comfort of my home

All mixed up, adventure, new life start

Travel maps, comfort of my home

All mixed up, adventure, new life start

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start a new.

The world has got me turning

The world has got me turning

To start a new, to start a new, to start a new.

Wayward ways

I have wayward days

How long before I leave?

This is my October 20th contribution to Poem A Day October. Since I like having a framework to mimic, I used this method [that I just made up]: pick an singer I know nothing about (Ryan Adams), pick one of their band names (Whiskeytown), find a song name on that page listing (16 Days), look up the lyrics and write something to the tune of that song (a song I have never before heard, to my knowledge). If someone wants to record this version of the song with the music from the original song, that’d be neat to hear.
