Wait, I'm confused. So a man writing a story about a female character and getting a female to draw the book is a bad thing now? I wholeheartedly agree that there needs to be more diversity but you're making it sound like straight white dudes need not apply

I got a couple messages about this. I think there’s a dramatically different thing in telling whatever stories you wanna tell vs soap-boxing on someone else’s experience without them having a voice. 


When I talk about it in comics it’s about guys who are routinely writing from a strong women character’s experience but never try to get more female voices in the position of power to write their own stuff. When you look at the lack of diversity in comic creators— it’s not because all kinds of people don’t write and draw, it’s all who gets let in. That’s not a quality judgement on how worthwhile the work is. I’m talking about the bigger cultural picture. 


There is no danger of straight white dudes not having a voice. They have had the job/ they will get the job, society has stacked the deck.. sooo really lets not worry about that. straight white dudes will be fine.
