Wuss in Boots

"So what's today's *&%#$ virtue?" Michaela asked. "Doing without?"

I ignored her sarcastic tone. "Today's virtue is courage. Consciously or subconsciously we all know we have a limited number of days. It takes courage to do without something today in the hope of having something better tomorrow."

"So, not drinking makes me courageous?" Emu asked. "I wish you'd tell that to my roommate."

"Why?" Julie asked.

Emu pulled up his pant legs to expose his footwear. "Since I got sober he's started calling me 'Wuss in Boots.'"

The group laughed, except Michaela, who said, "Well, you just tell him he's a *&^%# and his mother's *&^%#$ #$%&* for *&^%# sailors."

Today I will be courageous, regardless of how people around me react.
