The story begins as they have recently purchased their newest house to flip. Hemmings House on Bedlam Street is a big old Victorian mansion in need of tons of work. Brad is doing some cleaning and getting rid of the garbage and clutter in the basement when he unknowingly encounters the dead inhabitants of the house. Tessa and Gerald are long dead, but that does not stop Tessa from getting a bit too close to Brad. Troubles begin to brew in Julie and Brad’s marriage and danger invades their lives. Who would guess that a dead woman could cause so much damage?Written in the first person/specter perspective, each main character feels their influence on the others. While I had some reservations about how I felt about this novel in the beginning half, it was compelling to read and see the interactions intensify. At times Mr. Cash brought the reader back in time to the Civil War era at Hemmings House to reveal the history of the dead. That was quite interesting as well. As Brad and Julie go through the house, clearing out the remnants of those that have lived there before, they find it is a treasure trove of well kept antiques. Could that be the answer to their money issues?I would recommend The Flip to readers that enjoy ghost, supernatural, and relationship stories. I have to say I was not sure I would like The Flip. If it were not for the wonderful writing and character interplay, I may have not read all of it. I am very glad I did. It was quite entertaining and ended up having a wonderful message. Keep reading, it is worth the time. I truly enjoyed this odd, yet thoroughly engaging novel.
