How Did Mel Brooks Not Already Have A Hollywood Star?

I was surprised to hear that Mel Brooks recently got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. I wasn’t surprised that he got one, but rather that he didn’t have one already. I hadn’t ever thought about it before, but I would have imagined he had one years ago.

After all…Blazing Saddles? The Producers? Young Frankenstein? History of the World, Part I? Spaceballs? How did he not have a star already?

I guess he didn’t, though. I have no idea how they decide these things. Anyway, at least he has one now.
