An American Yazidi Trying to Save Iraqi Yazidis

Sharifa Khalil was just days old when her family crawled under a fence at the Iraq-Syria border in 1988 to escape Saddam Hussein’s rule. Now a resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sharifa is working with other members of the persecuted Yazidi minority to try to avert a genocide of the Yazidis back in Iraq.
