Signs Not in Sync

How do I smell the ocean when vehicles drive along the sand? These signs need to talk more. (Admittedly, they are on opposite edges of the United States, but that is a technical detail.)

While we are on the subject, maybe it’s just me – and my sheltered Californian upbringing – but…

Dear Florida, it seems so very wrong to drive on a beach.

Christina McMullen Ah, this just makes me jealous. They drive on the beach in Texas too. I don't like it and I don't like the fishing poles they set up right next to where kids are swimming.

Hmm wonder if there is a relationship between beach driving and political persuasion.

Christina McMullen Seems very likely. I love the gulf coast, but... yeah, I miss the California attitude.

Sue Perry I have family scattered around Florida and the differences between FL and CA induce quite a bit of culture shock. For example, in Florida, the nature preserve has a special entrance and area for hunters. You, ah, don't see a lot of that in CA...

Christina McMullen Wow. 0kay, I didn't know that! Seems like they aren't "preserving" much at that point.
