Let’s put aside, for the moment, Deep Breath and Into the Dalek, and instead look at the third episode of Series 8, Robot of Sherwood.

Due to air on 6th September, here’s what to expect:

In a sun-dappled Sherwood forest, the Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars and strikes up an unlikely alliance with Robin Hood.

With all of Nottingham at stake, the Doctor must decide who is real and who is fake. Can impossible heroes really exist?

Written by Mark Gatiss (The Unquiet Dead; The Crimson Horror), and directed by newcomer, Paul Murphy (Wizards vs. Aliens; Casualty), Robot of Sherwood stars Tom Riley as Robin Hood and Ben Miller as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Murphy, meanwhile, will return to the series for episode 6, The Caretaker.

Broadcast times are yet to be announced, but we reckon Robot of Sherwood will be on at around 7pm. And if you want to know more about Peter Capaldi’s debut season, check out our largely spoiler-free preview!
