Capaldi on Rumours Jenna Is Leaving

Peter Capaldi remained tactful when questioned over Jenna Coleman possibly leaving Doctor Who.

“I’m not looking for a new assistant,” he told Alex Jones and Matt Baker on The One Show when asked what characteristics his next companion should have. The Mirror reported earlier this week that Jenna is leaving the TARDIS at Christmas, but, as Capaldi went on, we don’t even know if she’ll survive the Series 8 finale, Dark Water/ Death in Heaven!

Well - spoilers! - we do: both she and Peter have been confirmed for this year’s festivities.

Nonetheless, his dismissal of the rumour is promising for those of us who love the Impossible Girl.

The One Show also exclusively revealed behind-the-scenes footage, taken from Doctor Who Extra, of the Twelfth Doctor’s first script read-through, during which he sat between Jenna and Dan Starkey, aka Strax. New companion, Samuel Anderson aka Danny Pink was also present…

“I’m influenced by the entire history of the show,” he continued, and then went on to praise his previous incarnations: “Both Matt [Smith] and David [Tennant] have been incredibly kind and helpful and supportive… Peter Davison has been absolutely lovely too.”

Furthermore, he was also presented with the Twelfth Doctor action figure, and pondered if he was fully articulated on the show!

He is, of course, promoting Deep Breath… which starts this Saturday!
